Director: Strategic Projects / Post Level 5
Lead strategic projects focused on facilitating marine and maritime industry involvement in skills development initiatives to support industry growth, and facilitating the interface between industry and education role-players.
Director: Operations / Post Level 5
Ensure operational effectiveness and delivery to strategic goals of SAIMI, and develop SAIMI’s public profile and brand position.
Director: Research / Post Level 5
Establish SAIMI as a central point of knowledge and information to support the maritime industry. Develop and implement a research agenda that supports growth and innovation in the South African and African maritime sector through better understanding of the skills, technology and innovation needs of the maritime industry.
Director: Government Relations / Post Level 6
Manage an effective and proactive government relations programme to develop understanding and support to advance SAIMI’s mission and strategic goals. Provide strategic advisory and support on the policy, legislative and political environment.
Senior Manager: National Cadet Programme (NCP) / Post Level 6
Ensure effective management of the NCP, directed at increasing the numbers of trained, qualified and employable South African seafarers. Identify and coordinate opportunities to grow the NCP and expand SAIMI training and professional development programmes.
Senior Manager: Operation Phakisa Skills Development / Post Level 6
Manage Operation Phakisa (Oceans Economy) skills development initiatives and related structures and projects, to support the skills development required for implementation of Operation Phakisa in the Oceans Economy.
Research Associates – 3 positions / Post Level 8
SAIMI seeks to appoint up to three Research Associates with an interest in maritime education, skills and socio-economic development in any of the diverse aspects of the maritime economy (eg transport, manufacturing, aquaculture, fisheries, oil & gas exploration, marine protection & ocean governance, coastal tourism, small harbours and infrastructure). This is an ideal opportunity for a candidate working towards a PhD to gain experience in a national institute and multi-disciplinary environment geared to the application of research.
PR & Events Coordinator / Post Level 9
Support SAIMI’s marketing and communication activities, including production of materials, content development and social media; and organise SAIMI events such as meetings, seminars and conferences.
