    Groundbreaking Oceans Economy workshops target traditional leaders and officials in coastal municipalities

    The South African International Maritime Institute (SAIMI), in partnership with Eastern Cape Socio-Economic Consultative Council, International Ocean Institute (IOI-SA) and Eastern Cape Corporative Governance and Traditional Affairs department (Cogta) are rolling out Oceans Economy and Oceans Governance workshops to capacitate Local Economic Development (LED) officials and traditional leaders in coastal municipalities.

    Small-Scale Fisheries Pilot Project aimed towards improving the quality of leadership and operational management skills

    The South African International Maritime Institute (SAIMI) in partnership with the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment (DFFE), South African Maritime Authority (SAMSA) and the Oceana Maritime Academy, hosted a three day Integrated Small Scale Fisheries Empowerment Training Programme in Port Alfred.

    IMEC IS COMING TO SOUTH AFRICA

    The International Maritime Employers Council (IMEC) and the South African International Maritime Institute (SAIMI) are pleased to announce the commencement of an IMEC South African Cadet Training Program in 2023. Following an extensive consultation process and inspection of the country's maritime capabilities and capacity, the announcement was made after the Crew Connect Global Conference in Manila, on 25 November 2022.
