WIOMSA - SCALABLE Call for Commissioned Research Grant

WIOMSA is offering research grants as part of the "Sustainable Blue Future in the Western Indian Ocean – Institutional Strengthening through Science, Capacity, and Assimilation for a Sustainable Blue Future – SCALABLE” (2023-2026) project.

This initiative aims to enhance the Science-Policy interface in the Western Indian Ocean region and align WIOMSA's research with global ocean policies like the Africa Blue Economy Strategy, Sustainable Development Goals, Paris Agreement, and Global Biodiversity Framework. 

The grants will address critical knowledge gaps in designated thematic areas through research synthesis conducted by specialised experts, promoting interdisciplinary approaches, innovative methodologies, and effective dissemination of findings to inform decision-making processes and societal transformation.

Successful applicants will receive up to USD 50,000 for their research projects, with funding allocated to 5 selected studies from 8 priority subjects. Projects must start by July 2024 and conclude by August 2025, with proposals due by 3rd May 2024 via Proposal Central.
