Join us as we hear from women who continue to navigate through barriers in the maritime sector to “Rise above the Tide”. Our acclaimed speakers, who are from various sub-sectors, will share their career journey and experiences.

After the plenary session, you are invited to attend one of three FREE online training workshops which will be facilitated by national and international experts in their respective fields. Participants will receive a certificate of attendance on completion of the workshop.

Ms Catherine Moodie
Institute for Chartered Shipbrokers

Catherine Moodie (FICS) is the current Chairman for the South African branch of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers and the Pricing Manager for FATS, Forwarding African Transport Services, a freight forwarder in Hillcrest Durban.

Ms Lucinda Krige
Sea Harvest 

Ms Lucinda Krige’s steering into learning and development commenced as fleet and technical training officer, advancing to her current position as HR Manager: Learning & Development. Leading a team conducting, coordinating and managing all training needs for their processing as well as seagoing functions and their supports, whilst meeting strategic targets ito BBBEE, EE, SAMSA compliance, etc

Ms Siya Maya
Entrepreneur in Bunkering 

A founding owner of ZAS Petroleum PTY LTD as well as co founder and Managing Director of South African Marine Fuels PTY Ltd, Siyamthanda is a seasoned business professional in the energy sector. She is a personification of diligence, determination, and skill, attributes which have contributed to her current performance standards.

South African International Maritime Institute (SAIMI) hosted a successful Maritime Winter School Awareness Programme

South Africa has been at the center of a surge in interest in respect of sea-going careers. The South African International Maritime Institute (SAIMI) in line with its mandate and role as advocate and coordinator of skills development in the maritime sector has initiated a new pilot programme. This is an ongoing exploration at testing the waters in ensuring that the South African system is strengthened and therefore ready to be able to respond to these opportunities that are coming into the Country.
